Young Geomorphologists‘ Activities 2020

Since 2007, the German Young Geomorphologists organize annual workshops in order to support networking amongst early career geomorphology enthusiasts. The meetings provide a platform for open discussions on a wide range of problems that might have emerged within a particular research project.

Cause of pandemic reasons, our plans and activities changed for this year, too. We thought about and examined how and whether we could let happen a young geomorphologist meeting this year. Due to the uncertain situation and financial risks we will also move into the virtual space with two events and we invite everyone to participate.

(1) Evening event (guided questionary) on 28.09.2020 – 19:00 at this year’s AK Annual Meeting.

Title: Pandemics vs. Academia – How do you deal with teaching / field work in the current situation?

We plan a guided questionary and an informal discussion.

(2) Digital Online Meeting at 29. and 30.10.2020:

This year’s young geomorphologist’ meeting will take place online (Link will be provided after registration). The following program items are planned:

29.10.2020 geomorphological online meeting

14:00                  Keynote+Discussion

14:45 – 18:30     Contributions by YG

30.10.2020   Crowd solving of social challenges

08:00 – 12:00      Contributions by YG

13:00 – 18:00      Workshop: Graphical design of scientific content

Contributions means that each submitted contribution will be given 15 min time and will be presented as a lecture, poster, spotlight and the corresponding discussion. You can choose to focus on a presentation (talk) or discussion (spotlight) of your topics.

Please register by 4.10.2020 using our registration form, so that we can organize the number of zoom licenses.

We would be happy if you have time for both events and if we meet again this year at least online.

Please also feel free to register with our mailing list (email to jgtreffen@gmail.com) to receive updates on the meeting in June and on additional activities of the Young Geomorphologists!
